Finland joined the Lord Mayor’s Show in London – Santa arrived on the banks of the Thames

The Lord Mayor’s Show, held in the heart of the City of London, is a historic event that has been celebrated for over 800 years. It’s an annual ceremony where the new Lord Mayor of the City of London officially takes office. The highlight is a colorful and vibrant parade, with hundreds of participants marching through the city showcasing culture, community, and charity. This year’s procession featured 141 floats – and Finland was among them.

At Nordic Event Management, we had the honor of making history as we represented Finland in the Lord Mayor’s Show for the first time with this team. In collaboration with the Finnish branch of the British Chamber of Commerce, we brought together a group of Finnish partners who boldly joined this international and meaningful project.

At the heart of the event is always charity: the procession supports the incoming Lord Mayor’s charitable initiatives and brings together representatives from countries, cities, organizations, and companies to celebrate community and give back. Finland’s contribution? A touch of Christmas magic.

The British Chamber of Commerce asked us to help find partners and sponsors for the event. We delivered – and brought the real Finnish Santa Claus to London! Our group, decorated with Finnish symbols, spread joy, smiles, and Christmas spirit directly to families and children. Thousands watched the parade live, and millions more tuned in via television – this was exceptional visibility for Finland.

It was a truly emotional and unforgettable experience. The smiling children, the joyful reactions from the crowd, and Santa’s warm greetings made this journey special. It wasn’t just about visibility or representation – it was about bringing Finnish values, warmth, and the spirit of togetherness to the international stage.

This project proved how far you can go when the right partners, bold ideas, and heartfelt work come together. We are deeply grateful to everyone involved and proud to have played a part in such a meaningful event.
